Privacy notice

The short version: the calculator collects nothing, and the quote form exists to pass your details to one clearance firm so they can quote you. Nothing else happens to them.

Using the calculator

The cost calculator runs entirely in your browser. The property type, clutter level, region, access and item choices you make are not sent to us, not stored, and not logged. You can price a clearance on this site without giving us anything at all.

Using the quote form

When you submit the quote form we collect only what the form asks for:

  • Your name
  • Your phone number, your email address, or both — one of the two is required so you can be replied to
  • The property’s postcode
  • When you need the work done, and any notes you choose to add
  • The estimate you were shown, and the calculator settings that produced it

The estimate travels with the enquiry deliberately: it means the firm quoting you has already seen the figure you were given, so nobody wastes your time with a wildly different number.

Who your details are passed to

Your enquiry is emailed to one UK house clearance company so they can contact you about the job, and a copy is kept in our own inbox. We are paid for the introduction, which is how this site is funded — see how the site is funded. Once your details reach the clearance firm, their own privacy policy governs what they do with them; ask them directly for it.

We do not sell your details, we do not pass them to any other company, we do not add you to a marketing list, and we do not send you anything ourselves beyond replying to you.

The enquiry email is delivered by our email provider acting on our instructions. We hold no database: the sent mail is the only record.

Cookies and tracking

This site sets no advertising cookies and carries no advertising. If we later add analytics, this notice will be updated before it goes live, and anything non-essential will ask for your consent first.

How long we keep it

Enquiry emails are kept while they are useful for handling and reconciling the enquiry, and deleted on request. Ask and it goes.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask what we hold about you, have it corrected, have it deleted, or object to our using it. Email contact@houseclearancecost.co.uk and say which you want — no particular form of words is needed. If you are unhappy with our response you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.

Our lawful basis for passing your enquiry to the clearance firm is that you asked us to: submitting the form is a request to be quoted, and the form says so at the point you submit it.
